I started to gain weight after the death of my daughter in 2000. By 2009, going through depression and facing life storms, I was at my heaviest of 330 lbs. I was very sick with high blood pressure and cholesterol levels, then kidney problems. I knew I had to try to get healthy. You see, I was an emotional eater and I turned to food whenever I faced anything negative in my life.
From 2009 - 2013 I was able to lose over 100 lbs. I got down to a healthy weight of 145 lbs! But during this time, I didn't work on my mental state of the emotional eating. Then July 2013, my mother died in front of me, she had a massive heart attack and I turned to food again. Eating and crying in private, gaining weight in public, also illnesses.
By 2017, I was 250 lbs and showing early signs of heart disease, what my mother died from. Losing my eyesight to high blood pressure and I found out that I have an enlarged heart. I blacked out one day and was rushed to the emergency room. The doctor told me if I didn't change, I was going to die young like my mother. When I left the hospital, I started a mental journey. See, I had to beat emotional eating because it was killing me. As I fought my mind, wanting to eat the wrong foods and not working out at all, I won by December 2017!!
I was down my first 20 lbs and started my physical journey in January 2018. I never looked back!! I am down 121 lbs and lost over 50 inches off of my body. I now have the help of a fitness coach. I was on 16 medications and now I'm only on two. My blood pressure and cholesterol levels are stable. I beat heart disease and I am living out a new LIFESTYLE!
I am a work in progress, I have a ways to go and I am doing it! I am thankful for a second chance at life. I am fitness and fitness is ME... We can get healthy if we put our mind to it, the journey is all mental and we are what we think.
