Here you will find answers to the questions I am asked most often. If you have a question that's not listed, please feel free to ask using the contact form!
What is "on-location" photography?
What is "on-location" photography?
There is something quite magical in a photo shoot that tells your story. Working on-location means choosing a location that holds special meaning to you. Anything is possible. Or maybe you’re after the simplicity, comfort and familiarity of your own home which brings a deep sense of place to the entire family but also makes a lasting record of your personal history. The children reading their favorite books, cuddled up on their beds. Playing a game of hide and seek in your garden, or simply having breakfast around the dining table. I am here to capture ‘your’ story.
When is the best time for my session?
Early morning, late afternoon or evening is usually the best time for outdoor portraits. This is the time of day which will provide the most flattering light. While I strive to hold sessions during these times, scheduling may have to be made at other times. Don't worry if we are scheduled on a cloudy day. Clouds are awesome in creating soft, diffused light.
How long does my session last?
Each session has a designated allotment for time. What I like my clients to know is this... I don't rush your sessions. I understand the dynamics of working with younger children and know the importance of capturing their photos quickly as their attention spans can fizzle during a long shoot. It's okay if your children would prefer to run around and be silly. Giving them the freedom to be themselves provide more opportunities for great, natural portraits.
Some sessions will last longer than others though.
How many images can we expect from our session?
Each session package is discussed during our initial session consultation. I'm not competing with photographers who will offer 100 photos in an hour. Photographing with intent is very important to me and is based upon your photographic needs. Understanding lighting, location/background, angles and composition creates great portraits for you.
How can I help
How can I increase the amount of great images from my session?
This is a common question and I am so happy people ask! Here are a few tips:
Be on time and allow extra time in case the photographer wants to extend the session at no charge to get more shots for you
Dress comfortably and keep your outfits organized if you plan on changing wardrobe
Specific session ideas will be discussed in our pre-session consultation, if you have something you'd like to add, please let me know at the beginning of the shoot.
Be open and willing to try poses/different ideas
Be creative and expressive! Have fun!
Be prepared for the temperature outside
- And last but not least, be yourself and look forward to having a memorable experience!
Will you use photographs from the session on your Website?
Yes. Website content is a huge draw for customers and drives a large portion of my bookings...saving me money on marketing and keeping costs to you lower. In return, a $179 'Marketing Discount' has been applied to all base prices *the session rate you see includes the Marketing Discount* If you are uncomfortable with any photos being posted, please include an additional $179 in your payment.
Can you provide COI's (Certificates of Insurance) if needed?
Most definitely! My insurance provider can sometimes get these to you (fax, etc.) same day, but often it helps to have 1-2 days notice. We need your legal entity name and location address in order to get the paperwork for you.
When will I receive my photographs?
Turnaround time really depends on the time of year. Below is a general idea of what you can expect.
For portrait sessions:
I strive to provide a ***Sneak Peek*** 3-4 days (sometimes sooner) after your session.
Please allow 10 days for your disc to be ready.
For wedding sessions:
You will enjoy a ***Sneak Peek*** a week after the event
Please allow 2-4 weeks for completion.
